The Changing Landscape
Millions of years ago, the nearby Gilboa Forests were inundated and fossilized. A few thousand years ago the last glacier melted. Forest species evolved as the Catskills warmed up. Over time land use changed, industrialization has come and gone. The working railroad has become a tourist ride. In 2011 Hurricane Irene created a 100 year flood event here. The growing season has been increasing. What will climate change mean?
